What drew you to GetYourGuide, Alvin?

“I was attracted by our mission of helping travelers uncover incredible experiences here in Asia, a continent rich with diverse cultures and untold stories. While Europe has long been celebrated for its storytelling within the world of tours and experiences, Asia has a unique narrative just waiting to be elevated. I wanted to be a part of the team changing the way people experience travel in this region.

GetYourGuide isn’t just a travel experience platform — it’s on an ambitious journey to revolutionize a rapidly growing market. The team culture here empowers every member to learn and own their own growth opportunities, which I think is really important. It inspires all of us to stay curious, innovate in our work, and draw from our shared passion for travel.

By leveraging our customer-focused, data-driven culture, we produced some groundbreaking results, including the creation of the North Korean Defector DMZ Tour (and many other popular tours across the region) as well as the incorporation of flight-class concepts for private/shared tours, multiple starting times, and the introduction of walking tours in Asia.”

What motivated you to move to Bangkok, Adeline?

“My ethos in life: Never try, never know. So, when I got the job offer from GetYourGuide, I knew it was time to step out of my comfort zone. 

Relocating isn’t easy. Going to a new country and learning a new language means a whole lot of unknowns. But the opportunity was too exciting, and the dream team in Bangkok was something I didn’t want to miss out on!

Of course, the first few months were challenging — it was hard to be away from my family and friends. But over time, I found my rhythm, embraced the incredible culture here, and created a balance that worked for me.

Five years later, Bangkok feels like home — and the adventure is still going strong!”

What did your first three months look like, Zoey?

Pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, embracing new challenges, and facing my fears were also essential to my early days at GetYourGuide.
